Eimskip

At Eimskip, switching to the Smartlift SLX 2000 has transformed how heavy metal parts are handled. What once took multiple workers, heavy equipment, and physical strain is now done quickly, safely, and precisely by a single operator using remote control.

The challenge: Heavy and bulky metal parts

Eimskip is an international logistics and transport company that handles container freight and specialized repackaging of goods. At their facilities, large metal parts, often weighing up to 1,760 lbs, are received in containers and must be repacked and placed into specially designed transport racks. Manual handling was not possible.

Previously, Eimskip used a forklift and three workers for the task. It required both precision and strength: parts had to be lifted from pallets, turned correctly, and placed accurately into racks. This process was time-consuming, physically demanding, and carried a high risk of strain and injury.

Hydraulic winch and magnets

Today, Eimskip uses the Smartlift SLX 2000, a powerful and flexible lifting aid with a maximum lifting capacity of 3,310 lbs and a lift height of up to 19.19 ft. In this setup, the unit is equipped with a hydraulic winch fitted with two strong magnets on the hook, allowing safe and precise lifting and transport of heavy metal components from pallet to rack.

Remote control for precision and safety

Now, one person can handle the entire operation. The operator uses a remote control to steer the SLX 2000 and ensure the part hangs steady and secure during lifting. Tasks are now completed faster, more accurately, and with minimal physical effort.

Although the SLX 2000 can be driven manually with power steering, Eimskip often chooses remote operation for its exceptional precision. The operator can stand close to the work area, maintain full visibility, and place parts exactly where needed without heavy lifting or awkward positions.

The result

Fewer man-hours, faster workflows, fewer injuries, and a safer, more ergonomic working environment.
