Eimskip

At Eimskip, the transition to the Smartlift SLX 2000 has revolutionised the handling of heavy metal components. What once required multiple workers, heavy equipment and physical strain is now handled quickly, safely and precisely by a single operator using remote control.

The challenge: Heavy and difficult-to-handle metal parts

Eimskip is an international logistics and transport company that handles container freight and specialised repackaging of goods in large quantities. At its facilities, large metal parts are received in containers and must be repacked and placed in specially designed transport racks before continuing through the supply chain. The challenge is that the parts often weigh up to 800 kg and cannot be handled manually.

Previously, Eimskip used a forklift and three employees to carry out the task. It required both precision and strength, as the parts had to be lifted from the pallet, turned correctly and placed precisely in the racks. The process was time-consuming, physically demanding and carried a high risk of injury.

Hydraulic winch and magnets

Today, Eimskip uses the Smartlift SLX 2000 – a powerful and flexible lifting aid with a maximum lifting capacity of 1,500 kg and a lift height of up to 5.85 metres. In this case, the machine is equipped with a hydraulic winch fitted with two strong magnets on the hook, used to safely and precisely lift and move the heavy metal components from pallet to rack.

Remote control for maximum precision

Now, a single person can complete the task. The operator controls the SLX 2000 via remote control, ensuring that the component hangs steadily and safely during lifting. The work can be carried out faster, more accurately and with minimal physical strain.

Although the SLX 2000 has servo steering and can be driven manually, Eimskip often uses the remote control for its outstanding precision. The operator can stand close to the work area, maintain full visibility and place components with pinpoint accuracy without lifting or awkward body positions.

The result

Fewer labour hours, faster workflows, fewer injuries and a safer, more ergonomic working day for employees.
