VACUUM LIFT DO ALL THE HEAVY LIFTING
The construction of the new super hospital NAU in Aalborg, Denmark, is in full swing. The facades are ready with new windows, and, now, the time has come to the interior of the buildings. 27 large ventilation shafts are waiting to be sealed off using Paroc panels as ventilation walls.
A team of tradesmen from Breinholt Service & Montage Aps is working on establishing the ventilation shafts that are to ensure proper ventilation at the new super hospital.
PAROC PANELS OF 220 LBS
The challenge is how to handle the PAROC panels, with a length of more than four meters (13 ft), are too big to handle manually. The team uses a SL 608 HLE RT with rotating yoke to handle and position the panels thereby avoiding putting too much strain on the body - and reduce the risk of material damage.
The vacuum lifter makes a very controlled handling of the panels as well as precision during the final mounting. This reduces the risk of material damage to panels and moldings significantly. The glasslift is equipped with SPK special suction cups which are suitable for Paroc panels.

2 + 1 = 7
The ventilation panels weigh almost 220 lbs each. This means that, according to Danish legislation, seven men are needed to install a panel to keep the load under 33 lbs per man.
"It is almost impossible to handle the elements manually and we would just get in each other's way. We are just two men to handle the task with this Smartlift, and adhere to the schedule perfectly - without compromising on health. The lift provides a very controlled handling of the panels, and precision during the fixing at the end." says Johan Eskerod, service fitter
It greatly helps to reduce the risk of material damage to panels and moldings.
The lift is equipped with SPK special suction cups, which are suitable for Paroc panels and stone. The suction cups can later be replaced for mounting glass and windows.
Without a vacuum lift for the job, the team would be completely worn out by the end of the day

Effective collaboration
On each floor, the Paroc panels are ready on pallets. The lift lifts them from the stack and drives to the shaft, where it angles the panels very precisely into the rail system.
Assembly takes place in close coordination. René Hansen is a partner on the task and drives the lift, while Johan remotely operates the arm and 3D turning head until the element is safely in a vertical position and can be attached to the shaft.
The team works efficiently by complementing each other in the management of the lift and panel. For Johan Eskerod and the Breinholt team, there is no doubt - Smartlift makes work easier and completely removes the risk of wear and tear and damage.
As the team finishes, the other craftsmen move onto the floor and establish the rooms. The task of closing the ventilation shafts will be completed one floor at a time and it must all be completed in the autumn.
